This is a piece I've composed for vibes. I'm planing on arranging it for a small percussion ensemble. Hope you like it!

Been too long since I have posted in my blog. The Friday morning jam at my home has added a base player to our lead guitar, clarinet and me on the vibes. As a percussion player who is rhythm-challenged, I find playing anything upbeat, or with a latin beat tough to do solo, but having a base man and lead guitar chunking away helps a whole lot. The base doesn't come through well on my Zoom Q2 digital recorder. These clips are from Jan 13, 2017.
Working on a few things and exploring some possibilities using this deep and classic song as the vehicle.
My composition Faraway with Steve Allee-piano, Jeremy Allen-bass and Steve Houghton drums.
Hope you enjoy. Rusty
Hello all!
My name is Victor Burton (unfortunately, no affiliation with Master Gary!). My initial musical formation is classical trumpet in high school. I started classical percussion when I was 16 years old (with 2 professionnal orchestra players as teacher). I'm now 17 years old, and I'm currently studying Latin Percussion at college. I started playing the vibraphone more seriously last summer, when my High School lent me their vibes.
ATTENTION MALLET PLAYERS:
Kicking off the New Year with a solo vibraphone piece that requires your audience to put their seat belts on! Fast-paced, technically challenging and fun to play, make this piece part of your repertoire or play it as an encore.

I had the privilege to play in my university's top jazz ensemble this semester. Here's an informal recording we did at the end of the semester of Milt Jackson's "The Prophet Speaks". It's a rather unusual 20 bar blues. Fun to blow on! I'm hoping to do some more recording in the New Year.

Piper Flyer Vibraphone is in its new practice/performance room in the Chapel of the Snows - Antarctica. The instrument plays great but setting it up leaves a lot to be desired. So, there's a more work yet to be done to make this instrument the perfect professional touring vibraphone. It is also the first vibraphone to make it onto the continent of Antarctica. I'm so glad I have it with me.
