Icarus by Ralph Towner - Solo Vibes

Beautiful composition by Ralph Towner as played on the superb recording Matchbook featuring Gary Burton and Ralph Towner. I really enjoy listening to and playing duo since it can be so intimate, subtle and interactive. Gary and Ralph's playing on the recording is brilliant and impeccable. So many gems on that recording. I remember when Matchbook was released in 1975. I was taking private lessons with Gary at the time and we were playing those tunes from the recording. Also wonderful sound and production from the ECM label headed by Manfred Eicher.

Great Parker Quote

"Well, that night, I was working over Cherokee, and, as I did, I found that by using the higher intervals of a chord as a melody line and backing them with appropriately related changes, I could play the thing I'd been hearing. I came alive." -Charlie Parker

Do you get it? It's really why bebop is great to play and study. I love listening to it also. Reminds me of Bach.

What do you guys think?

Hello fellow vibist!
Well I recorded this video as it was a live performance so..i told myself no stopping and try to
get a decent performance! I have a concert this July and I want to do a great job-hence this video as playing / posting for vwshop folks help me minimize my nerves, especially when it comes to solo playing fun, but the whole band stops and the audience stares at you. (kindly we hope!)
