Hi All,
Here's the scoop on the August show.
Two hours of vibes bliss. I've started a new feature, Three By... (the artist of my choice - or yours). First was Milt Jackson in June, this month it's Cal Tjader. I plan to do this every other month. Or maybe every month if I hear anyone clamor. Any suggestions for future artists?
Hello everyone, here's a clip from a recent Berklee concert that took place during Percussion Week. Set list for the concert: Autumn Leaves, Body and Soul, Alone Together, All The Things You Are, Stella, Bluesette and O Grande Amor. Some of the tunes are up on my YT page. We'll be adding Bluesette and O Grande Amor soon.
I hope you guys are having a great summer. It always goes by way too fast for me.
Best, Ed
hey,
heres the 2nd song of my new studio project. we had great fun doing this video. i just asked some people like the guy who´s fixing my car if he wanted to play in a music video. all the shots of the landscape were made very close to the place i live. again lots of work but great fun.

Hey,
this is the first song of a new project that i am doing right now. i´m planning to do a studio pop cd (sort of!) with different musicians i know. Everything is selfmade in my new studio and recorded by me. i got already about 5 songs together and every song will have also a video with it. i do this only for fun, to check out the possibilities of my new studio gear and to feature the vibraphone in a more pop context. even if it´s fun it´s really a lot of work to do...hope you like it! please tell me what you think!

I tuned in our local jazz station and heard one note of a vibist and knew exactly who it was, just by his tone.
I thought it would be fun to create some small snippets to see if you can guess the vibist, including some of our teachers. :-) Answers enclosed. Post the numbers of the ones you guessed correctly.
Have fun,
Barry
Update: Files Vibist 01 to 13 are very short. Per request, I added a few more snippets, about 10 seconds each, 14 to 20; some are repeat vibists and some are new.
Here's one of my new composition dedicated to the memory of the great pianist Bill Evans!!!
if somebody is interested in having a look at the lead sheet let me know!!!
best
Giovanni
Hello everyone, if anyone is interested in writing an article related to the vibraphone for the Percussive Arts Society magazine Percussive Notes that would be great. Possible topics: dampening technique; four mallet techniques and exercises, theory related articles on improv concepts, voicings or harmony; concepts and approaches to comping; ideas on classical interpretation say from the Bach Sonatas and Partitas; a transcribed solo with accompanying analysis. These are only a few of many possible topics. Including specific music examples (written in Finale) in the article is preferred.
