Jazz sous les pommiers 2013
What a great weekend we had. The festival is in a French town Coutances near the coast. It’s kind of the border between Bretagne & Normandy (hope I‘m correct here).
We arranged a room with 1 of the people volunteering to give rooms for the audience. It was organized by the tourism department. So we 1st went over there. I walked in and started my explanation. “Hey, I’m Stefan Vandenbe” “OOOOOH It’s you !!!, I’m Marilyn, we mailed”. OK, so they where expecting us apparently. J
Today I am playing with Dimitrios Kosmidis, Justin van Uum and Greg Torunski in gasterie de Fabel in Heerlen from 16:00 till 19:00! And after that I play in Edd's Cafe Maastricht from 22:00! We present mainly original compositions. There will be an open jam session so any of you people want to come would be great. More gigs soon!
Tony just posted this video a few mn ago on his FB profile... Isn't it beautiful! :o)
I own a set of Joe Locke crossover mallets. These are great sticks if you're looking for a big sound without the real clang of hard mallets. Unfortunately, my stick have come unwrapped twice now. And I don't mean the yarn broke, but it literally just fell off the stick. Mike Balter rewrapped them for me the first time for no cost, and now he's replacing the set of mallets as a whole for a new set at no cost. There's a reason vibe players love Mike; he's straight forward, down to earth, he gets musicians, he's reasonable, and let's face it: he makes the best sticks!
Check this out!
hey,
i borrowed a neumann tlm 49 mic by a friend and checked it out in my new studio yesterday.
what you hear is 75% of the neumann in the middle + my akg2000b as side mics. in the mix i used some reverb, a little bit compression but almost no eq.
This is a short excerpt from a concert with guitarist Dan Faehnle. Also Bobby Floyd on organ, Tony Franklin on drums and myself on vibes. This was a fun night!
Hope everyone is well in vibe land.
Best,
Rusty
