Available in Blue - New Joe Locke solo vibes piece - by David Johnson

This piece is from Joe Locke's "Six New Pieces for Solo Vibraphone" available for sale on his website - joelocke.com. I met Joe for the first time at PASIC (Percussive Arts Society International Convention) held a few weeks ago and had a chance to chat with him for a bit. He mentioned these new fully composed works for solo vibraphone and said that he was looking forward to hearing some other players interpretations. So Joe - this one's for you. Hope you like it. It's a great composition and much fun to play!

Recording radio programs from the Internet

Hi All,
I just discovered a website that will record a radio program from the Internet so that you can listen to the radio anytime you want. This would be great for the Europeans who want to listen to my show, Good Vibes, but find the time very inconvenient (like the middle of the night). You can find it at www.dar.fm. I have not tried it yet so I can't vouch for its reliability. If anyone does try it, let me know if it was successful.
The website is www.jazzon2.org. Good Vibes will air on Sunday, December 2, 8-10pm eastern
and again on Wednesday, Dec 5, 4-6pm eastern.

"Over The Rainbow" reharm/modulation - Ed Saindon solo piano

Solo piano clip of 2 choruses of Harold Arlen's "Over The Rainbow" with Keith Jarrett changes along with modulation as follows: first A in Eb, second A in F, bridge in F and last A in Db. This was taped during my Berklee improv class this past summer by pianist Ricardo Curto. The lead sheet can be viewed on Scribd here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/113437494/Over-the-Rainbow-Reharm-Modulation

Seven Rungs of Resistance By Wynton Marsalis

Check this out.

--------------------------
Seven Rungs of Resistance
There are 7 basic rungs of resistance up the ladder of artistic success

1. Ignorance - Not your fault. Generally the result of a polluted environment. No one
knows, so you don't know.
Example: You think funk is jazz.

2. Miseducation - Your teachers are well meaning, but just don't know. It's no one's
fault. Example: someone tells you, you have to study classical music to become a jazz
musician. Bad advice.

3. Personal difficulties - You just have some major personal problems to overcome.
