Congratulations to Gary and Chick for another Grammy win the other night. This one was for best instrumental solo for Hot House, a fantastic recording. After 40 years, they're still going strong. Saw a picture of Gary accepting the Grammy and he looked sharp in an all black suit. I hope the music continues for many more years. Ed

Hello to all fellow Vibeworkshoppers !

I'm currently undertaking a research masters in composition relating to the vibraphone and technology usage in composition / performance and am looking for participants. This involves answering a short questionnaire via email which will take no more than half an hour to complete. All information about the study and also the exact Questionnaire to answer is attached to this post as a pdf file for you to checkout. Point 2 is a newly formed, innovative duo by vibraphonist Christos Rafalides and bassist Petros Klampanis.
This concert is a sneak peek of their upcoming album, scheduled to be released in spring of 2013.

Vibist Dick Sisto is appearing tomorrow night, Feb. 1st, at The Jazz Kitchen in Indianapolis. Sets begin at 7:30 and 9:30. Steve Allee will be at the piano, Frank Smith on bass and Jason Tiemann on drums. I've seen these guys a couple times and done some study with Dick and I think you'll be very glad that you ventured out into the frozen tundra to witness this one.

Born on this day in 1943, our living legend, Gary Burton.

I had the great opportunity of attending a clinic by Gary way back in my college days at Indiana State Univ. I can still remember the clinic and the evening concert that came with. A great day of wisdom and inspiration that has lasted a lifetime!

Still working on and applying the wisdom imparted. Thanks to all that you've done for so many players on all instruments not just the vibraphone.

It's the February Good Vibes update and that can only mean the annual getaway show. We'll go to "Morocco," "Crossing the Sudan," and see a "Sahara Sunrise." Recently I have noticed, when on the Internet, on almost any page I visit whether it be a bulletin board or just pages browsing the Internet, there always seems to be certain key words that are highlighted in color and double underscored. These words do not have to be clicked on to activate. If you just pass your mouse cursor over the underscored words, then an annoying or unwanted ad pops up that appear to be sponsored by "QwikLinx". Move the cursor away and they go away in a couple of seconds or you can click the x box in upper right corner.
