The Importance of Posting

Hi everyone,

I've been starting to notice more and more people posting and asking questions. Please keep it coming!

When you post questions, this is a very big help for Tony, myself, and the other guys posting lessons on the site. Sometimes, it's hard for us to come up with ideas for lessons, and many times, the questions in posts gives us ideas for topics.

Even if you feel shy and don't want to post your playing, ask questions! This is a big help for us! Thanks!

I Need a Team (for the Kickstarter project)

I'm thinking I need a team of people to help me with this kickstarter project. So I'm asking if anyone has any time to help the project.

Is anyone interested in really helping us get the word out? It will take about an hour a week of your time.

In return if you help, I'll send you mp3s of my 2 latest CDs (not out yet), The Jost Project and the one with Diane Monroe. And I'll send you a pair of my mallets. That's about all I can really afford to do.

Wuppertal Workshop 2013 : free housing.

Hi there,

"free housing" means you will have a sleepover by friends of mine or students from the university.
It doesn´t mean, you will have your own private suite, shower, roomservice and others :D
...are you familiar with couch-surfin´???

For all who are still interested please let know, I´m tryin´ to get you in:)
So far it´s:
Andru, Dimitri, Israel, Hauke, Stefan, right?
@ Marie: which dates shall book the hotel for?

All the best and looking forward to see all of you,

Matthias

Skype Group Lesson - 3 Guys Who Know 'How Deep' Fairly Well by Memory

I'm Thinking about the group Skype lesson. I want to try it. I was thinking of 3 guys who know the tune by memory. Maybe intermediate to advanced.

I think for the group lessons we should all be at similar levels. especially if it's only 2 or three of us.

You should have an account on Skype set up.

Anyone Interested? Then we can set up a time, but I'm thinking Wednesday January 30th, late afternoon or evening.

Online Class 1-19-13

Hi everyone,

Please join Tony and I on Saturday at 2pm (eastern standard, US) for the online class which covers our new TOTM, How Deep Is The Ocean.

Even if you don't feel like you know this tune well, find a recording/lead sheet of it and join us anyway! This is a great opportunity to get insight into this tune, and we're hoping that this class will promote more participation from the members of the site.

As you all know, this site can only exist if we all participate and inspire each other! Hopefully, we will see you there!

Best,

Behn

Afro Blue Day Five Billion

Alright...it's been two months since I posted any progress on transcribing Burton's solo on Afro Blue and I'm going to post because I need some motivation. I've been working on it on and off, but winter break and traveling for work put a big damper on getting anywhere with this.

Today I decided to record what I have. It's crazy that this is actually double the length of the last time I recorded, because I feel like I've hardly gotten anywhere, and there's still a full minute to transcribe! Aargh!!!

BUT I will soldier on, because it will all be worth it in the end!!!

Who Makes My Most Quiet Instrument?

Glen Dalrymple makes the quietest instrument I own. Well, not entirely true, but he rebuilt my M48 and it is now a beautiful instrument.

Behn and I were messing around with the m55 and m48*GD (Glenn Dalrymple). We found some things that made the m55 quieter but my rebuilt instrument was very very quiet.

If you have a new m55 don't just tighten the big nut above the pedal, tighten the one below it. As I found out. That did make my instrument quieter.
