So the University of the Arts (where Tony teaches in Illadelph) is illin' hard this year and we are going to start a monthly to bi monthly study. So we will blog on the blogoshphere of the interwebs via vibesworkshop.com about a certain composer or style, recommend tunes/info/recordings to each other, each learn some tunes from that composer or in that style, and eventually meet up and have a vibe hang that is centered around the topic du jour of the month.
The first up on the list is Duke Ellington/ Billy Strayhorn.

For the TOTM Tony mentioned that there was a bunch of Summertime stuff already on the site, so I figured it might be good to get it all together in one post. If anyone finds anything else, feel free to add it.

Summertime vibes performances:
since very very few people posted something on ornithology i decided to post this practice session from today. not very structured, few mistakes in the head but anyway...i post it.
i want to hear you guys on that tune please post what you have so far no matter what it is...
i think it´s not easy to play a good solo over it because i tend to fall into scales and licks i always use if it´s that fast...not easy to get rid of that :(

Before a new school year, I did some work on my M55 to improve it.
I was unhappy with the silly W brace system, always getting loose at the worst time (when rolling the vibe to my van at 2AM for example...), and being a nonsense mechanical feature, as explained here by John Piper and Nico.
I had noticed too that the gear wasn't sturdy around his vertical axis. Just one bolt on each side to maintain all is not enough after some years of use and the horizontal pieces making the "T" part of the horizontal pedal brace were already bended, meaning a shaky vibes in a few time.
