it will be there for 7 days
I just had a phone call with someone. We were talking and I thought of something I wanted to say. I knew underneath I was partly bragging about ME. Strike one. Then the conversation just started to drift but I HAD to get my plug in there. So I tried to work it in the new subject. I blurted it out and sounded like a frickin' idiot. Awkward moment but the other person just moved on.
On the way home I realized that I have done this with soloing AND comping as well. You guys get it?
Here is a part of a lesson by Tony, day 1 of the workshop in Sassenheim.
Tony speaks about "embellishing notes" or "surrounding notes" (after a question from Ben "redders" Redman).
Hi everyone,
Here's a new etude based on the TOTM, Days Of Wine And Roses. PDF is attached. Hope you like it!

This is a transcription of Bach's 2 part invention no. 13. The range has been adjusted to 3 octaves so it can be played on vibes and marimba. Both parts are 90% arpeggios, so using 4 mallets will make it easier to execute the lines. You can download the manuscript [HERE]
Note to Tony: How about allowing uploads of pdf files on video posts so I don't have to keep putting in these external links to the manuscript?
I thought we'd quickly post some of what we're working on. We went through this sheet of voicings. David gave a great talk on them and everyone had to learn them and play part of this. The jpg's are attached. We shot them with his camera.
I get to play with David Friedman
Hi all,
Here are some ideas for increasing the use of varied rhythms in improv. One thing I didn't mention in the lesson; use of space and accents is very important as well!!!! Enjoy.

I don't know a lot of these songs but it's still interesting.
