Uh oh!!!!!!
Morgan Wallbridge is an amazing up and coming vibe player. She transcribed our performances of Joy Spring.
I would like to see some of you play the transcriptions. Who's up for it.

Ballads,
(Time),
Tony
I've just found this video Interesting IMHO - Enjoy !
This wonderful, quirky tune by Earl Zindars has been a favorite of mine for over 50 years. I used to jam on this tune in the 70's and perform it with bassist Harvie S. Although I'd been playing it off and on I never was satisfied with my solo versions so I started working on it again about 3 days ago and finally, after 2 day of recording it, I came up with a version which I feel is moderately acceptable. It's hard not to try to sound like Bill Evans, who made the tune famous. I think there's quite a bit of me in this take. So, here goes.

There is the link for this transcription. Now you can study a little John Piper.
Cool music played on vibes... Enjoy ! An happy new year to everybody, with a lot of good vibes ! :o)
I've been playing through Freddie Hubbards solo from his tune Birdlike. Oh man is there a ton of stuff in this solo!
Here's an excerpt. The second chorus. Check out the E natural in the first bar over the F7. He does this all over the place. He does it also on the 4 chord later on. It's so cool because you can see ways you can play the major 7th over the dominant chord.
Next this chorus is a GREAT etude. try to play it using alternate sticking and get it up to speed. It will take some work! After that play it in different keys!
Here's a beautifuk version of "When you wish upon a Star", by master ballad singer, Martina
Bárta. We recorded our rehearsal today.
I was inspired by Tony's rendition of "Joy Spring" so I decided to try a a couple of choruses, concentrating on keeping the time, experimenting with different voicings, rhythmic comping and ultimately trying to swing! VERY Challenging with any solo bebop version. The reason I faded the track out is simply because I didn't like what I played towards the end. :-) Not terribly mysterious (Ha ha!)
