I'm working on a duo project with a pianist from my school, and we want to do a piece with a dancer, or a small group of dancers.
We've been looking thorugh some pieces, but maybe someone will have a suggestion for us. Has anybody done something like this? I know it's a pretty obscure project to take on. We're looking at contemporary or ballet dance.
We're planning on gigging with just the duo, but we want to also play a piece with dance for a recital or concert.
Thanks!

i toured with a dance company for a few years. it was called the jewish german dance theatre and they did all stuff about the holocaust.
i was the only instrument. just vibes.
i figure either you're following them or they're following you. those are the two options right?
so you could find a jazz piece and they dance to your improv.
you could have some sort of groove and you watch them and solo to their dancing, one of you laying down a foundation.
you could work out a piece with hits and they dance to that.
you could play senior mouse! that's pretty rhythmic
pick a tune like freedom jazz dance and then do a groove for the solos.
actually there are many things you can do. you could experiment by playing 'free' and they dance to that. you watch them they listen to you. etc.
That's so cool that you
