I quickly made a pdf harmonizing some scales. Spend some time on this, as this will help a lot I think.
You should make melodies out of scale tones and then try to harmonize them. There a lot to do here that will really move you forward with chord melodies.

Day 5: The two main tweaks in this lesson are the first and fourth measures. In the first measure, there's a nice surround going into the ninth of the Gm; two half steps below and two above. In the fourth measure, the line descends at the D7, which was ascending in the previous days.

I made this for my student Nathan, but I'd love to see who else wants to do this.
I play All Blues with an Aebersold recording. You play the melody and at the end. I solo first. You comp for me and I comp for you. Comp in the lower octave and solo in the middle and up high as much as you can. That way we will stay out of each others way a bit.
