ship song part 3

Part 3 we are.
The puzzling is over. I think I've got all my pieces now. I also listened to the original and noted the structure it has. + I drew a chart of the energy build up the song has to me. (see pdf, lowest chart.).

Now I have to work on it.
-starting with the Metronome
-pedalling and dampening
-trying to improve my chords and soloing
- keeping rhytm
- balancing the build up
.....

Now it's time to build the song.
I did make a 1th rough one today as a starter. It is really bad in all : wrong notes, bad pedal and dampening, tempo sucks, rhytm is wrong.

shipsong part 2

OK, I don't know if this is the way in blogging to make a sequel. But here is my 2nd post on shipsong.

I've done a session 'freewheeling'. playing around the things in my head, no rules. Just let it come. Lot of useless stuff, a few intersting things. And that was my goal in this excercise. Get ideas while playing.
I'm still strugling in getting the chords more interesting, for the moment I'm not getting further then doing the same thing on a different octave.
I'll attache my freewheeling. If you feel like it....It's about 10 minutes.

First video (and video post) ever. Noodling over changes to The Best things in Life are Free with BIAB

Ok, I finally got the courage to video myself practicing. This is my attempt to play over the changes to "The Best Things in Life are Free" with my usual band-in a box partner. I'm still working up a good version of the head and some comping chords, so maybe it will all come together later. I found that it is funny to watch myself groan at the bad notes, but also discovered a learning tool that I hadn't taken advantage of. This garage is where my vibes live, they've never left this space since I bought them 12 years ago.

my shipsong

Hey,

those of you who took a look at my playing along with 'the weeping song' probably read that I was going to try a soloversion of another 'bad seeds' song : the shipsong.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4VWKbZkIcM

I already started it, but now I was thinking that, for this community, it might also be interesting to show my workingproces. So here is my blog where you can follow and comment (please do) how I try to build this from scrap to song.

University of Delaware Assignment # 2

Hi U of Del Students,

Tony has asked me to assign one of my etudes for you to work on. Here is a link to my etude on How Deep Is The Ocean:

http://www.vibesworkshop.com/audio/totm-how-deep-ocean-etude-no-1-behn-…

It doesn't have to be perfect, but work on it and try to get it close to tempo. This etude will help you with ideas for lines. You can listen to my version of it, as well as the other members who have posted it.

What instruments does this pertain to?
