"Stardust" - Solo Vibes

Stardust - Revisiting this classic composed by Hoagy Carmichael with lyrics by Mitchell Parish. Here's one of the versions that I came up with today while doing a little practicing at home. Throughout the clip, I incorporated some voicings covered in my new book "Voicing Concepts for the Jazz Vibist" now available from Amazon. Having fun trying out some different voicings and a little reharm here and there. Putting the book together and coming up with the concepts and examples helped my playing in terms of expanding my voicing vocabulary.

A New Vibraphone History Project

Hey everyone,

Man...I sure have been bad about being on this site. Really hoping to fix that X-/

Anyway, I'm starting a new research project for school and my professor has given me the go-ahead to write about anything relating to vibraphone history. This site and its members have been such a goldmine of information for projects I've done in the past, so I'm hoping some of you might have ideas, suggestions, topics you've always been interested in learning more about, etc.

Checking Out Joel Ross

I'm always looking for video or audio of Joel Ross but it seems hard to dig stuff up on him. I just want to check him out as he's a young up and coming vibe player who's on the scene. The stuff I've heard sounds great!

I found this album (not under his name). Just started listening to it and thought I'd pass it along.

Someday My Prince Will Come

Exploring on this classic song using voicings from my new book "Voicing Concepts for the Jazz Vibist" now available from Amazon.

The book addresses a variety of voicing concepts as applied to the II-7 V7 I Maj progression as well as standards including Autumn Leaves, Green Dolphin Street, Stella By Starlight. Also included, chord melodies to You Are Too Beautiful and But Beautiful.
