Behn Gillece plays an original composition "Trapezoid"

Hey everyone,

Here's some video footage from a gig I did at Smalls last month. I have a few others up on YouTube as well. Please feel free to check them out. Also, it really helps me when there are comments and "likes" on the video postings. So please feel free to "like", leave a comment and subscribe to my YouTune channel! I would love to hear your input. Thanks all!

Happy Hearts Day Vibes Friends!

This version of My Wild Irish Rose is inspired by pianist Keith Jarrett. I love how he subtly shifts keys on familiar tunes. This version is an example of playing a tune by ear and then looking for interesting ways to change keys. I decided not to improvise on this one — just played the melody in slightly different ways that seemed to fit each key. Every chorus is the same, yet slightly different each time.

Mike Mainieri at Berklee

Mike Mainieri visited us at Berklee last week. Mike gave two excellent clinic presentations. One on composition and one on the vibraphone. He was so generous with his knowledge, experiences and expertise. It was great hearing about his life in music and playing the vibes. He brought some mallets to check out. I'm trying Steve Nelson's mallets in this photo. They sounded really nice and had good weight behind them.
