The arts organization in my hometown, Hopkinton Center for the Arts, is nearing completion on a new performance center and instruction facility. I'm setting up Internet access and internal wiring for them and I'd love to be able to set up some sort of live video streaming. Does anyone have any hints on best services/practices etc.?

A New Orleans style jazz send-off for Bob Masteller is planned for April 10 at the Honey Horn Plantation, Hilton Head Island, following church services that morning. Musicians are coming from around the country to perform and pay their final respects to a truly inspirational human being. A memorial fund has been set up at website www.thejazzcorner.com. Proceeds will benefit Bob's beloved Junior Jazz Foundation, a non-profit organization which fosters jazz education among young people.

Had a little time today before a class at Berklee. Practicing some improvisation with the concept of Tension Resolution on Autumn Leaves. With this concept I'm focusing on using one tension and chord tones for each chord change and making to sure to resolve the tension to the nearest chord tone. It is a simple but effective improv technique that sounds the changes with a melodic flow. I'm playing 8 measures out front to establish the context of the song.

I had a few minutes before a class this week and was exploring on piano with this classic composition by the great Leonard Bernstein. This is a great song with a beautiful melody and deep harmony. One of those songs that plays itself. I'm using a little reharm here and there. There's a beautiful version of Somewhere with Keith Jarrett and the trio. Ed
