Thanks Stefan!
I can't believe how much I'm learning about the vibraphone. I spent the day with Leigh Stevens at the Malletech factory and once again learned so much about the instrument!
Leigh had me play the Omega for a bit. It sounded great. Then he told me to hang on for few minutes. He turned the heat up on the room. I went from sixty five to 70. Then he had me play the Omega and it sounded So much better.
Check this out for the 2014 world vibes congress!

this is going to be the most incredible vibe event in years!!!
This is all because these great players want to try and organize an organization of vibe players.
I think we need this and this can really help us and especially help the instrument!!!!!!
I have two. The one I recently played on. It had a gel damper with no gel in it. Go figure.
I played on one in Cuba, where a person had to sit near me because the posts on the vibes would fall over some how and they had to fix the note. But that was Cuba and I felt part of the revolution! So it didn't feel as bad as it seems now!
Yep they said they had a set of vibes for me at Bucknell University. One of the more expensive Ivy League schools in the country.
I went up to play them, and the f*R%*R% gel damper had NO gel in it. So they went and got me felt pads and sad I shouldn't complain because Stefon Harris played on these. I said, well I bet Stefon was at least as pissed off as I am right now.
And then I said, IF A VIBE PLAYER ASKS YOU IF YOU HAVE A SET OF VIBES YOU SHOULD SAY NO, BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A SET OF VIBES.
ASSHOLES.

This month, we have no less than seven players proposing lessons, on our current TOTM 'Alone together', and on other subjects! Now don’t miss the announcement of the first vibe congres: we’re trying to come together and give a better place to this awesome instrument! And if you can’t attend, just keep on playing: it will help too! :o)

I'm editing Christos' lesson getting them ready to go online. I hate editing video, btw. It's not fun for me, I'm not a video guy and am not dying to make money at shooting video and editing it and making it into a work of art! It's funny because everything I do is a means to an end. The end is playing my instrument. That's the most important thing in my life. Absolutely the most important thing.
(if you are a pro and you're coming, let me know)
There will be a jam session Saturday Night
Free table display space for the first 10 professional players to confirm their attendance (display your CDs, music, mallets, books, etc.)
Free catered lunch Saturday afternoon, sponsored by Malletech
Players of all makes welcome
We’ll have a Musser M55, Yamaha Y3710 and Malletech
