Hey my vibes community! I wanted to re-share this project that I'm working on that I think would be of special interest of mallet players
You can go do www.igg.me/at/cali2cali OR www.danvibes.com to donate, learn more, and/ or share!
What we're doing:
Building a home recording studio in Cali, Colombia to make professional recording more accessible to communities that deserve to be heard.
This is an AWESOME piece. Good fodder for advanced geography/space sharing between the hands on vibraphone. Also stabilizing repeated tones while surrounding tones change, and avoiding anticipatory "static" in the motion (ie. a hand tries to leave early and you miss a note).
In this video I practice: https://youtu.be/HB3GjcljGWU

I struggle when I practice! It sucks striving for perfection and never achieving it. I guess I just look for better. However I think the end goal is perfection. It is a nice goal that none of us will ever reach, but some seem to get pretty close.
I realize how much of this is about focus. That's at least 95% of the battle.
Hi all,
Here is an original song from the album with thanks to Gary Burton for the inspiration and for blazing the trail for us.
Cheers Kym
Here's a short clip of me playing the 13th etude for pedaling from David Friedman's method book. Feedback welcome.
Experimenting on the marimba today with Thelonious Monk's "Round Midnight".
Hi all,
Here is a track from our new CD with my band The View From Madeleine's Couch. An original song recorded a couple of months ago.
Cheers Kym
