A ballad by Jimmy Van Heusen
Simply working on some basics with some Friedman Etudes. Feedback welcomed!
I'm in the jazz combo at my university this semester (Cal State, East Bay), and I was thrilled to find the music department has a beautiful instrument. Apart from a missing damper bar adjustment nut, it looks to be in good shape, and the bars sound great. The motor even works! Difficult to find in most music departments.
Ahh - I posted this one. It's funny.
first I'm talking to my self in the beginning! I'm mad because I don't think I'm concentrating hard enough. Next the dryer is on. I practice once or twice a week with the dryer on.
So I thought I'd give you an audio glimpse into my world. In a different life I have a lot of money and I have built a music room which is sound proofed with no dryers.
A classic jazz waltz by Sammy Fain
A very very swinging album!
And check out the sound of the vibes. Magical!
A short rendition of a Victor Young classic.
I'm working on dampening and pedaling using David's book, and checking out other players' renditions. There are some really nice ones up on the site. In your video of Etude #1 (back in 2008?), Tony, I noticed how close you keep the mallets to the keys and how relaxed your hands are. Beautiful!
I just got a tripod for my iPhone to be able to record. It's helping to be able to see and hear my own playing. I'd appreciate feedback from anybody.
