I love playing ballads!
Here's a version of "My Foolish Heart" that I was happy with from a recent trio gig with the great Drew Gress on bass and drummer Johnathan Blake.
Questions, ask away...
Thanks for listening.

“Someday My Prince Will Come” - my students and I have been working on this song the past week. Working on solo playing with the vibe students and improv concepts with the piano students. Fun stuff.
Randy said recently, I'll let the music speak for itself.
It's taken a long time however I'm really getting into Walt Dickerson and his eccentric style.
Sorry but I can be a skeptic of eccentric players, thinking they're just BSing, but Walt is not IMHO. He's trying to use the instrument a little differently. Now I don't necessarily think we have to use the instrument differently, but When I listen to this cd I really like his trying to play it a little differently, if that is what he would say he is doing.
I'm really falling for his playing.
Here's my take of etude #15.
I appreciate how these etudes are really written for this instrument. In a way, Dave Friedman is like the Chopin of the vibraphone. These etudes really make you develop a fluency with the articulation and phrasing that pedaling and dampening can offer. I'm looking forward to getting through this book!
How to play the chromatic scale with out getting your arms crossed.
“In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning” - one of my favorite ballads written in 1955 by David Mann with lyrics from Bob Hilliard. So many great versions of this song by vocalists and instrumentalists. Two of my favorites are from Frank Sinatra on his 1955 recording “In the Wee Small Hours” and from Keith Jarrett on his 1995 recording “Keith Jarrett at the Blue Note”.
Society Red run through. Just soprano and vibe.
Something very cool about Walk Dickerson and his approach to the vibes!
I know Randy Sutin will agree!
He crazy at the end, but I really like his playing!
