Something's Going On

I think it's all of you guys, you're having an affect on me. For a while I wasn't doing a lot of listening. I don't mean transcribing or figuring stuff out, I mean listening just to listen.

I've noticed over the last few weeks that it's been really exciting to just listen to stuff!! I think it's from all the discussion around here!

Larry Mckenna Jazz Masterclass (Rhythm Changes)

Time

Here's the link for the class, starts at 7: http://www.mogulus.com/thephillysoundlive

Larrys' going to try his class again this Wednesday night.

Larry is not a vibe player, he's a sax player and an incredible musician. Vibe players can learn a ton from Larry!

I'm not sure what he's going to cover but I'm sure it will be something great. If there's a handout I'll scan it in and post it before the class.

Come back here and I'll have the link to the workshop.

Life-changing Recording?

I can remember going from the Beatles in the '60's to Led Zepplan and Chicago and Blood Sweat and Tears to Hubert Laws to Chic Corea and Joe Farrell back in the 1970's... Then being introduced to Elvin and Bill Evans and Gary Burton. These were amazing experiences for me. What were yours? I think the one that influenced me the most and got me in this business the way I am was.....

(do you think I can sue?)

For Those of You Who Post

If you post here on the site, you'll see some reorganization starting. The first thing you'll see is in the boxes where you post. We're rearranging the 'Type' categories. Everything is still there, just being moved around.

Over the next 2 weeks, there should be a shift in the front page and some other things. Please hang in there with us. I think it will make the site a little better for us all.

Any questions, just let me know.

Bobby Hutcherson as a sideman

I think it is sometimes hard to find a lot of Bobby Hutcherson stuff. He doesn't have loads of cd's with him as a leader, but he did a lot of stuff as a sideman. So there is a guy who put a list on amazon with Bobby Hutcherson on cd's as a sideman! So check it out. I'm gonna post these cd's to the cd library book also.
