Phew, cranked out a bunch of lessons today! Just wanted to pump out some stuff that was on my mind! Uploading 9 new ones now!
I saw a few new subscribers! That's great. I haven't started to promote the site yet. Just working out a few kinks. One member barryk has been combing through the site and helping me tie up the loose ends!
There's a lot more coming, I have etudes to put up, more vids and audio!
I'm in Ireland for the next 10 days, and will try to do stuff from there, however when I come back, I plan on setting up a couple 'masterclasses' where we can hang and talk about stuff.
I love independence on the vibes. I like making things work that shouldn't work. A bass line is usually something I don't waste time on, however there's a trick here. It's an illusion. Once you set the bass line up you don't have to keep it going. Just come back to it once in a while! The only other thing is that the line has to make sense and also sound good. You can't just work out some stuff and play it. It has to accompany what the improvisation. That means the bass line has to be improvised as well!
Check out the whole lesson in the 'Good Vibes' Book under 'Studying Tunes'.
Man! Back in the day, I used to teach Behn Gillece. He came over today and recorded some lessons and a piece for the school and I learned a ton. Behn has come into his own and is a top notch vibe player! He talked about solo playing and then how to practice chord voicings.
I added some of the stuff to my practice routine! It came around in full circle. Amazing. To be honest he's the best student I ever had. He practiced EVERYTHING I gave him and came back with ideas and questions. Some lessons he'd be talking through the whole lesson. I'd just listen to what he did.
Just playing over Lullaby of the leaves for a student.
Finally. I was going nuts! We probably spent about 9 months on this site and it's done. Now I can get down to making videos, working with students and having fun.
I hope you guys like the site, check it out and if you think you can get something out of it. Please Subscribe!
Well..... We didn't talk about all of the vibraphone techniques but we got a bunch in here!!
Here are some things that will help you do more on the site. Things like making video and or audio.
