Being home 24/7, I'm thinking about additional ways to keep from driving my neighbors and roommate nuts with all my noise (not just vibes..I also loudly practice singing kid songs for one of my jobs). Anyone have any DIY soundproofing ideas without spending a lot of money? Here's what I have so far:
-Malletech Late Nite vibe mallets (these have been soooo clutch!)
-A rug under my vibes
-Curtains, sheets, and tapestries on the walls (including a blackout curtain)
What do you do to soundproof your space?
Hope you're all well and in good spirits out there. Just wanted to share this new video of a series of videos I'm producing from home entitled "Choro in My Apartment." I'm joined by my friend and Brazilian bad@ss pianist Helio Alves. It serves to document my love of Brazilian music, Coffee, and Brazilian Coffee
I was having a little more fun with this one and being less careful (read: it sounds worse)
At last week's "Vibe Online Coffee House", David Friedman was asked about his approach to introductions.

I applied his response to my arrangement of the introduction for this week's tune, Emily, to create a mood. Here is one of my practice takes.
Barry
Neil is the percussionist with the London Symphony Orchestra. He's a great classical and jazz percussionist!
His percussion ensemble plays some amazing arrangements of jazz tunes!!!!!
Tony's having me do a solo tune every day, and I'm starting to post them. How I'm doing it is taking a tune I know well, record my first take and play it safe. I upload that one. Then experiment more on other takes and listen back and work on the stuff that I was experimenting with. So here is my first take where I play it safe.
"Once I Loved" by Antonio Carlos Jobim. One of my favorite songs by the great Brazilian composer. But then again, I love them all. :) I might take back the Picardy Third on the ending but it was too late once I played it. Ha!Ha!
Hello Vibes Workshop!!
This is a video of a song of mine called "Puddles".
It was inspired by my kids when they were little.
The group is called "The Neighborhood Trio". The video is circa 2011 and we
recorded it for a Minnesota Public TV show call "MInnesota Original". I hope you
enjoy it. It's a happy sounding piece.
We are still a band so if you're interested you can poke around our website at

Cheers
