Fats Waller's "Jitterbug Waltz" from last night's gig at Li's with Mark and I. Always a fun night playing duo with Mark and hanging with family and friends. Going on 10 years with this gig and it never gets old.
"All Of Me" - a slightly demented version of this classic from last night's gig with Mark and I. Ha!Ha!
"Windows" by pianist Chick Corea. A classic composed by Chick which he recorded quite a few times through the years. Some of the students and I have been working on it during the past week and were discussing ways to maneuver through the changes as well as how to approach it solo vibes style.
The all-new, PIPERvibe, South Pole vibe grip. The only grip to use when standing at the South Pole at minus 60 degrees F.
Here is my solo version of Someday My Prince Will Come! I am working on getting comfortable playing solo in 3. This is not my cleanest video, but my goal is to not spend more than 2 weeks on one solo tune and to keep posting regularly!
Playing pan and congas at a local Indianapolis club.
A short video of me playing through Friedman's Dampening Etude #3
When I was much younger, my mentors taught me that the best thing I could do for my playing was to transcribe on a regular basis. They taught me that it was not for the purpose of learning to copy and play solos that others had played, but rather to develop my ears so that I could create similar material in real time. They also taught me that the process of transcription enabled analysis which led to a better understanding of what others had done before me.
