lot's of language to steal. my favorite are those first two measures.

Rules:

1. ONE key per day.
2. you MUST run the board ascending/ descending >or< descending/ ascending at least 2 times per sequence. Lowest point o the instrument in that key to the highest point on that instrument in that key.
3. you MUST use a metronome, preferably set to 2 & 4. Slow to medium tempo.

the RHYTHMIC PROGRESSION
1st time = 8th notes
2nd time = 8th note triplets
3rd time = 16th notes

the STICKING APPLICATION
8th notes using alternate sticking, doubles, paradiddles (that’s 3 times up & down!)

So I've almost finished producing a CD, now what do I do?

I have no delusions of grandeur here, but I do want it to be "out there" and available. Our major goals in producing this CD were to expand our musical capabilities (already accomplished :-)), and maybe get more/better gigs.

Hello everyone, here's a videoclip from a clinic on improvisation that I presented at Berklee (last summer) for the Summer Program faculty. The topics covered Tension Resolution, Four Note Groupings and Major 7th #5 Superimposition. in my series frank zappa M-Kat playalong i present today:

zomby woof.

i love that tune and it´s a really cool rock composition of frank, showing that avantgard rhythms like quintuplets can fit into a rock setting. i cutted out the biggest part of frank´s guitar solo and hope he will not hate me for that weherever he is now. i transcribed the marimba part sometime ago and attached it as pdf.

unfortunatley the auto focus of my cam went a little bit crazy...sorry for that.

What's up vibesworkshop? As many of you know, I am up in Philly studying with the man himself, Tony Miceli. Tony and I spend a good deal of our lesson time in conversation about the instrument, music, and life. He asked me to start a blog and discuss things that I am working on and some concepts I use while arranging and playing. So this is entry numero uno. And I wanted to talk about arranging.
