Ok here's the etude. It should be in good shape. But here's what happened. I came home from a gig and started reading Arthur C. Clarke's 'Rendezvous' and couldn't stop until i finished the book. I really tried!!

Then I ran down to my studio and cranked this out. I added a solo section for you to check out also. I'll add the midi file. Remember it sounds bad (the midi file) but might serve as a good reference.

I put the chords in for the head, and then left them out for the solo section. You should play each bar, write the chords in and study it that way.

Yo guys,

One of the requests I get for the vibe hangs is that I'll devote time and answer some questions that people might be having.

I'm thinking about setting up some times 'office' hours. I can go online live for an hour here or there and if you guys have any questions we can talk about them. for now, i'd probably do it like the vibe hangs and you guys would have to type the questions. But I think we could get 3 or 4 of us on skype and try it like that sometime.

Restricting your options is a great way to get freed up on the vibes.

James Whiting posted a real pretty piece where he manually rotated the fan blades. Dr. Bob commented that he would like a crank on the side to override the motor and have the blades pop back to the open position. That made me wonder what I could make from things around the house to do that. Here is the result. I used a 7.5" Jumbo Rubber Band, Spring-type door stopper, shim, and a quick clamp. I screwed the door stopper into the shim and clamped it to the vibes. I replaced the original belt with the rubber band, gave it a twist so it would stay around the door stop.

Back when I played my company's holiday party, the clamp that holds the legs on my 1959 Deagan 580 snapped. I tried fabricating one, but it didn't work out. I emailed Gilberto Serna at Century Mallet. He had them in stock, for only $5.00 each! I ordered two. Received them quickly.
