Locrian the crazy scale! The 7th scale degree of the major scale.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Aolian the 6th scale degree of the major scale.
Chinese translation for Chinese students.
Aeolian是大調音階降3,降6,降7
在爵士樂中,比Phrygian多,比Dorian用的少。
Aeolian和Dorian的不同是Dorian沒有降6音, Phrygian多了降2音,
Here's a link to the website of legendary percussionist Emil Richards' website. This is a cool slide show showing some of the instruments in his collection, including a 31-tone vibe where an octave is divided into like, 21 parts. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Richards almost 20 years ago at the PASIC Day of Percussion when it was held in Philly.
I was having fun playing around with parallel 6ths. They sound so cool on the vibes. I tried it on piano and it doesn't sound as nice. Anyway, I started playing a song that I recognized but don't know the name. Can anyone name that tune (attached).
Thanks,
Barry
The pdf he talks about is below. You can download it.
Here's the handout for the class Wed. Nov., 5th 2008. (7pm)
btw- Larry is coming from a recording session so if for some reason he's late I'll post the change in times here.
Check out the cool font Larry uses in his Finale Program!
First and foremost you have to master the Open and Closed Voicings Excercise. You should spend months on this exercise! Click on this link and scroll down to open and closed voicings: https://www.vibesworkshop.com/book/chords/marie-noëlle/050316
I'm very appreciative to mon amie Marie-Noelle on her kind words about the tunes on my MySpace page with the H-Factor, a local Philly jazz group. She pointed out to me that since previously, my page was set to private, that nobody was able to access my page to hear them. So I unblocked it. If you have time, please give a listen and tell me what you think. One tune, "That Old Devil Moon", features the great Larry McKenna on the tenor saxophone. The others members are Rob Henderson, the leader, on drums, Pete Colangelo an bass, and myself.
