Bach Minuet in C Minor by J. S. Bach – practicing this classical piece for the purpose of dampening. These kinds of pieces are quite easy on the piano but definitely pose a challenge for the vibist in trying to maintain clarity of the lines with the counterpoint. I used this piece and other similar classical pieces from the piano, guitar and violin classical repertoire for my upcoming book on pedaling and dampening. The link to download the music is in the video description.
One of my favorite songs - "Young and Foolish". My student and I were working on this for solo vibraphone playing and voicings. Here's a little sample of what we were working on. Fun stuff.
"Body & Soul" - the last video of my sabbatical project which was the application of improvisational concepts along with solo vibraphone playing techniques. This was the focus of the break along with the work on two book projects (solo vibraphone playing and dampening/pedaling). It's been a nice break but I'm looking forward to getting back to Berklee for the Spring semester.
Arioso by J. S. Bach - from the F Minor Concerto. Inspired by Alfred Cortot's sublime interpretation of this beautiful melody from Bach. The music from Cortot's interpretation (with my added chord changes) can be viewed and downloaded via the link in the video description.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2020!
