My student Pablo was asking about writing a piece with one not as the melody.

So I recommended he write down a bunch of chords with B (his note for the melody, trying to use chords with B as an upper partial as well as a third or fifth.

I figured I'd quickly try and bang out my own version. So here it is. gave myself a couple tries and about 10 minutes.

For me there was a whole study around comping on the vibes. Comping is just Accompaniment. No rules.

This is a recording from a rehearsal. No, reverb, no editing, nothing. Just one time through. I like the intimate way the band is interacting combined with the group time feel. Hope you like it.
