Just some ideas to get some of you going with pentatonics.
Here's another etude that I wrote, in F major this time. This has a much larger focus on dampening, with a repeated phrase throughout that the etude is built around. The motive is moved through different keys and modes before returning and ending on F major. Pedaling and dampening marks are in the .pdf attached.
Today we talk about an harmonic device that I stole from bass players!
We can build pedal point on the root or the fifth of the tonal area in which the tune is composed.
I'll use the harmony of On green dolphin street to show it. Make sure to learn the melody and the changes before this lesson.

My rendition of Etude #14 from Friedman's Dampening and Pedaling.
Here's an etude I recently composed for the vibraphone in F minor. It begins with arpeggios, switches to an expressive melody, then to a chorus section, and back to arpeggios. Four mallets and an understanding of pedaling required.
I've attached an .mp3 and a .pdf of the etude. The mp3 is *mostly* accurate.
