This is an interesting site of LA studio musician and percussionist Gary Coleman (not the "Whatchoo talkin' about, Willis?" Gary Coleman of "Different Strokes"), but a well-known, at least to me, artist who has performed on hundreds of films, tv programs and records. Gary is the father of Lisa Coleman of the duo Wendy and Lisa. Wendy and Lisa played guitar and keyboards respectively, with Prince back in the 80's. Wendy is Wendy Melvoin, daughter of pianist Mike Melvoin.
Gary created some interesting audio and audio/visual pieces combining clips of historical events, quotes of presidents from Nixon to "Dubya" with original electronic music which heralds back to "musique concrete", which is electronic music composed of instrumental and natural sounds often altered or distorted in the recording process, a technique employed by composers such as Edgard Varese who was a big influence on Frank Zappa. The early work of Paul Beaver, an early pioneer of the use of the Moog Synthesizer on records and soundtracks in the 60's and 70's, and Bernie Krause, utilized tape recordings of natural and enviromental sounds combined with a large modular Moog Synthesizer, the one with all the patch cords.
Mr. Coleman brings this concept of "musique concrete" into the 21st century; an audio/video time capsule.
