All suggestions welcome!

I'm looking for an inexpensive mixer and mics (2) to record myself. I believe I have a "line in" input on my laptop. I really have no idea what a setup would cost. Can you get a decent setup without laying out a lot of dough?

My purpose is to record myself, possibly post my recordings or if I get involved with online lessons. Brand name and model information would be helpful. I've looked a little online but there is so much equipment available its a bit overwhelming.

Any help at all would be appreciated. Even if you post your setup that would be a good starting point for my research.

Thanks,
Tony

Hi!

I use a Acer Aspire 1860 laptop that has a firewire connection with the Alesis Multimix 8 FW(firewire) mixer. Software is Cubase SX and some cheap Behringer CS2 condenser mics. It took me some time to check out the best set up (mic position, level settings etc.etc.) but it was worth it.

Cheers Stefan

if you're just recording yourself playing. then any of the stereo digital records are find. case closed in my book.

m-audio is great. the portable mic is not attached. there are some others with the mics attached and they're just as good.

i have m-audio.
