A quick lesson on finding threads through tunes and building lines around them.
here is another track of my trio. i really like that theme a lot. it´s written by wes montgomery.
since i heard some different versions of that tune on the site (e.g. phillipe´s which i really liked a lot) i thought i post a trio version of the tune with a very little arrangement by me...the recording is from last year may or april i think so it´s not my recent playing but who cares :)
Woah!! Bobby comping with 4 mallets!!!
Here is my version of etude #10. Sorry for the poor recording quality but i had to use my computer microphone for this. Thanks!!
Not much of a classical player but I always loved this pice.
Most of this piece can be adapted relatively easily to the vibes.
I have attached the sheet music, available for free online. I would love to hear other versions from members.
A member of the site here just got his first gig on vibes. I thought I would mention that and mention how important it is to play live. Yes if you haven't done it, the first times are a little scary and might even be a disaster, but this is a huge part of getting better and you need to do it.
Thought maybe we could discuss this a little bit if you guys wanted to. Playing in groups and playing live is a important as practicing, if not more!
We discovered vibist/pianist Terry Pollard a few days ago... not long after her death, and thanks to Tony, Joe, and Terry Gibbs himself who is now among our newest members!
For those who missed this incredible video: http://www.vibesworkshop.com/video/terry-gibbs-and-terry-pollard-nothin…
If it's said to search good in bad, isn't it a fine example?!
I found this funny picture of her and Terry Gibbs: ain't they great? Isn't she gorgeous in all her youth in this beautiful dress?!
Here's another video of Mr. Gibbs from 2009. He still kills it everyday!! Now that's an inspiration!
My buddy Jay Garrett is in this video "dueling" with him on vibes. Very Cool!
