I've been thinking about ballad playing, so I thought I'd put my thoughts down on video!
David sent this video over of him demonstrating to a student the idea of playing laid back. So now we get to check it out as well. It's a beautiful solo! I love his lines and his feel! -- Tony Miceli
Hi All,
This was from a gig back in April of this year. In addition to me on vibes, there's Doug Sondak on alto, Steve Conahan on bass and Ed Conley on drums. Bit of a train wreck on the ending, unfortunately. I thought the sax player was going for a iii-VI7-ii-V7 vamp ending, but the bass player didn't catch on and it kind of waffled around until we fell into a Imaj7 vamp to end. Oh well, it came out OK otherwise :-).
Constructive criticism appreciated...

"For The Love of You " will be released in January, 2010 on E1 Music.
We now have a very thorough stuff of voicings here! There's so much to learn.
Hi all!
A few days ago I received the Vic Firth Gary Burton mallets - 2 pairs for a total of Euro 65,- Including shipping + import sales/purchases tax + handling by the Austrian mail services. Here in Austria, if the price of an item is less then Euro 150,- there is no duty!
Thats a bargain since a single pair costs about Euro 55,- or more(check out thomann and all the others).
So my recommendation is to order by one of the big shops. I ordered at Steveweissmusic which I can recommend, but there are others.
The only con is that it takes some 4 weeks to get the stuff delivered.
This is not vibes, but man, it's amazing music!
Louis Winsberg is a great French guitarist. I met him as he worked with my vibist friend Norbert Lucarain, and I already talked on the site about him and his great contribution to the world music and jazz.
A few years ago, I was at a concert and I saw this incredible Saz duet with his pal Jean-Christophe Maillard... It never had been recorded... until now! And untill my friend Bernard found it!
Joe Doubleday likes to put online thoughts of masters on his facebook profile. This one caught my attention. I'm sure you'll all agree on it... and that he'll forgive my past/copy! :o)
