Chord Study Based On My One And Only Love (For Tarik)

Ok the title looks weird. It's not for Tarik because he's 'My One and only Love', it's just that he posted his version of the tune so I thought I'd crank out a chord study based on the tune! We got that straight right?

What I would do would be fill in chords and then learn the tune and check out the voicings.

I decided not to post an audio version (midi) of the etude because I think it's pretty straight forward and maybe it's better that you solve the puzzle and get the sounds happening by learning the etude.

Musser comes through!

Hi Folks-

Been awhile since I dropped in... looks like lots of exciting stuff is happening around here! Just wanted to post to let everyone know that I somehow lost my entire M46 crossbar and pedal assembly between the 55 Bar and my house about a month ago. I have an m48 I practice on, so I was using its crossbar to make a frankenphone for awhile... unfortunately I first discovered the situation as I rolled up to a GIG! (Still haven't confirmed it wasn't stolen from my car by a thief who's a bit confused.)

Forum Topic: Comping for Self?

Ok, I see all these videos of you guys comping for yourself. How do you do it? I'm sure it's not a simple answer. I recently had a gig filling in for my jazz piano teacher on vibes. it was a trio setting and i could not for the life of me comp for myself. Every time I took a solo I would just have to go Strollin'. Should I just be focusing on the 3rd and 7th? The video I was watching was Tony burning through Cherokee, or when he played Giant Steps last night.

Remember by Shelley Carrol Group

I was sight reading this song. The melody rhythm Shelley plays on the sax isn't what is written on the page. It took me stepping on him a couple times before I got the change. I like this song. It was running through my head for a couple days after the gig. It's fun to solo on changes you have never seen before.

Ardina Lockhart - vocal.
Shelley Carrol - sax
Shawn Pickler - drums
Chris Clark -bass
Caleb McCampbell - piano
Dana Sudborough - VdP eVibe (direct to PA)

Forum Topic: my vibe solo, Wind, composed by David Friedman, question on performance

I may have some of the terminology wrong, as well as the way the song is to be titled, but please bare with this non-musician, while I try to explain what I am looking for.

Recently my 17 yr old son, a junior in high school, played one of Mr. Friedman’s songs, Wind, a solo on the vibe at a percussion bash at our high school. I am assuming the name of the song is Wind. He said something about it being a movement in the book (?) Mirror from Another. I'm sure once you hear the song, you'll automatically know the name of it.
