TOTM - Footprints - Etude No. 2 by Behn Gillece

Here's another etude on Footprints. This one isn't a chord melody; it's a simple outlining of the chords in a cool, hypnotic sounding kind of way, which I think is kind of neat for this type of TOTM. It has a straight 8th feel, and a slight reharm of chords towards the end to help stick to the one chord per two measures motif. Enjoy!

Good Vibes radio February '14 update -- World Vibes Congress

Time

Hi Everyone,
My February show will reflect the World Vibes Congress by playing almost all of the professional players who were there and made such invaluable contributions.
The only exception is Ed Smith -- I don't yet have any of his recordings but am expecting them in time for the March program.
I will talk a bit about the conference and what a treasure the jam turned out to be.
The first hour will include these (and others):
"New Shores" by Stefan Bauer
"Summertime" with Gary Burton (when he was only 21) and Stan Getz
"The Dog Days" Behn Gillece

That's why Tony is so great by Dimitrios Angelakis

The reason I am saying that Tony Miceli is so great is that he managed to gather all the vibraphone players in this congress. At first I thought this never could happen and it did because deep inside us we all trust Tony and we think that he is a great player and person. Ofcorse everybody has its own purposes when doing something but at the bottom level no one would show to this meeting if they didn't trust him. I don't know how was the congress since I am still in Greece but one thing I know is that this was a huge event and we are all lucky to know him.

If You Had Five Minutes...

It's a new year, and after being so inspired at WVC, I want to make a resolution.

Every morning, I spend time exercising before heading to work. I only have a few minutes so it's never a full workout, just some pushups or jumping jacks to start the day. I've been doing this awhile and it's a great habit, so now I want to do the same with music. I can certainly afford to wake up a couple minutes earlier to make time for vibes.

Mark Carlsen - bass & Ed Saindon - vibes this Sat. 1/11 at Li's, Haverhill MA

Here's a version of All The Things You Are with bassist Mark Carlsen and I. We play a lot of gigs together around Boston. I have to say that duo playing is probably one of my favorite formats. The listening and interaction is so clear and focused. Anyways, if anyone is in the Boston area, we are playing this Saturday, 1/11, at Li's in Haverhill. MA starting at 6:30.
