Here's another clip from our hotel gig. We're playing "It Could Happen to You" in Eb, although it's played quite often in G. One of my favorite versions is from Keith Jarrett who plays it in G. Sorry about the crowd noise. We're playing in the lobby of the hotel where people are coming and going.

Hello everyone, I'm playing vibes tomorrow night (Friday, 10/22) with Billy Novick - clarinet and Thomas Hebb - bass from 5-7:30 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel in downtown Boston. The trio has been there 5 nights a week since September. Gustavo and I have been sharing the gig with Billy and Thomas. It's been a nice run. Here's a videoclip of the trio playing the standard I'm Old Fashioned (taped in September at the Park Plaza Hotel). Hi All- Wondering if anyone can make a suggestion about makes and models of soft to med. soft marimba mallets worth buying. I've got a marimba now, and I have a student I'm working on with a rolling piece, and my always-sound-great-on-the-vibes Mike Balter Arthur Lipner mediums are not the right thing. I prefer rattan handles and don't like them too ridiculously long; beyond that, please suggest away, thanks. (And if what I really want IS long, birch-handled mallets, please tell me so, and why.)
I'm at the 'Black Academy of Arts and Letters' in Dallas, Friday and Sat. Now come on, Texas is a small state so I hope to see everybody there!

Checked out Burton tonight at the Blue Note. He played with:

Julian Lage, guitar
Scott Colley, bass
Antonio Sanchez, drums
It was a GREAT concert. The band was smokin', and every took great solos, but I was especially blown away by Gary and Julian. The last tune of the night was Bags Groove and Gary took a great solo that really reminded me why he's so unique. He really has his own vocabulary!

For those of you in the Philly area, or expect to be here in November, please join Michael and me at the Riegelsville Inn on Saturday, November 13th. The Riegelsville Inn is a great little place right on the Delaware in Bucks County with a delicious menu, and three different dining areas; the crowded bar with a neighborhood feeling, the cozy dining rooms with fireplaces, and outdoor seating along the canal in good weather. It's one of our favorite places.
