For many years now, I've been working with a local arts organization, the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (https://hopartscenter.org/). For the past several years I've organized what we've called the Sunset Jazz Concert series -- 6 to 8 outdoor jazz concerts during the summers on Saturday nights.

Two years ago, through some herculean fund raising, the HCA managed to complete building a new performance/gallery/instruction facility. At this time I added a monthly jam session, now on the 2nd Friday night of each month.

保持這樣的Voicing（和聲配置），然後只演奏root和3rd

可以自己創造出不同音的組合，創造出一個groove，
保持固定的Voicing（和聲配置），然後只演奏root和3rd
或是
R, 5th, 2nd, 3rd
或
R, 2nd, 3rd,
……….
這個練習可以幫助你練習技巧，協調性, 了解更多和聲配置。

選幾個和弦，play in time, 簡單的小練習，，可以練習很多東西，練習抓到groove and feel。
比如選一系列Fminor的和弦：
Root, 7th, 3rd, 5th 平行上行。
試著維持這樣的音程關係。
F, Eb, Ab, C
G, F, Bb, D
Ab, F, C, Eb
Bb, G, D, F
C, Ab, Eb, F
D, Bb, F, G
……….
可以只loop前四個和弦，然後play a groove in time(選一個節奏型態，定速演奏)，甚至演奏一些簡單的solo, 維持bass音。
＊play a groove in time(選一個節奏型態，定速演奏)時，就算有一點miss掉音，也還是保持節奏感。
也可以只演奏bass音（一路上行），然後solo。

可以打開節拍器，自創一些loop，這樣可以練習你的time（節奏感）。
找不同的Voicing，play in time。
練習“time”、”旋律”、“voicing”、“3,7音”、”Groove”

學到很多。

常常我們在Comping時，會限制在一個和弦只有一種voicing(和聲配置)
但是如果能在一個和弦上找到不同的voicing，並且是有和聲進行（Harmonic motion）的，會讓comping聽起來更豐富。
可以看看PDF檔中，Behn的例子是用藍調(Blues)來說明這個“互換兩個和聲配置”（Alternating two voicing）
熟悉了之後，可以開啟節拍器，按照速度演奏，再自己加上一些節奏感，這會是很好的練習。

Hi Everybody
I'm just back from the french Marciac Jazz Festival where i stayed almost 3 days. I've never had been there before, then knowing nobody at all. I discovered a very busy small village, with a lot of venues with jazz played live 3 or 4 times a day... The first evening I counted 32 jazz live sessions...
One of my "normal" jokes about vibes is to say that with this kind of big instrument, when you go to a jam session you have to come before the band for setting the axe and be sure to get the minimal room needed to play.
