VW Etude No. 3 by Behn Gillece
Hey Everyone,
Tony asked me to do another etude with a Blue Bossa theme. You will find that this etude is loosely based on Blue Bossa, with a few alterations (some reharmization and interludes). Hopefully, this may give a few ideas for those who are working on the TOTM. I recorded a version of it, and the pdf is attached. Please fire away with any questions. Enjoy!
Behn

Venezuelan Expressions 2010
Venezuelan vibraphone player Alfred Naranjo joins the Venezuelan Expressions concert at the New Freedom Theater for a concert fusing traditional folklore rhythms with the music from the Caribbean, jazz and with some elements of classical music. They are joined by local bass player Jason Fraticelli. This is a unique opportunity to hear how these exciting south american musicians continue to merge influences while keeping the flavor of their folk music strong. Alfred is a very creative composer and improviser and worth taking the time to hear both as a soloist and ensemble member.

What's Your Favorite Lesson Weekend
While trying to think up new lessons to post on the site I many times think of something and think, 'Oh man I already did that!'. However many of these lessons are buried. So I thought this would be 'FAVORITE LESSON WEEKEND'. Dig up an old lesson and tell us why it was helpful to you. That is if you have a moment!
So find a lesson that really helped you, put a comment on the lesson and explain why and how it helped you. Then we can all see. Also I can see what people dug and where to go with the lessons!

Does this work for you?
When I was a young kid I used to listen to Buddy Riches LPs awake and asleep so I could capture everything he does and the other players too. I could literally sing every solo on my favorite albums.
Even today I will often put a song or songs on loop on my iPhone and sleep with earbuds or just let it play next to me all night long.
In spite of not intentionally listening, it is my belief this helps subconsciously internalize the music.
