well here is the start.... this is an idea on how i get around Gaint steps...
I have only done the first Cycle of the progression, however, this idea should be continued to the other cycle that starts not the Bmaj7 but rather on Gmaj7.
Enjoy more to come
So I've been practicing the tune Stablemates over the last week or so. It's an incredible tune and great to work on with solo playing.
I work on the head, the changes, I'll mess around with different keys (this was a 12 key tune for me a while back).
I'll record 20,30,40 or more solo versions of the tune. I'll listen back after I take a take. Analyze and work on things. It's amazing what you learn about yourself concerning time, phrasing and soloing.
I've been listening a lot to Oliver Nelson's "Stolen Moments" on "The Blues and the Abstract Truth" album. I have also been listening to other arrangements including the one from the Kenny Baron/Joe Locke CD entitled "But Beautiful", as well as other arrangements on the net.
I have a head arrangement worked out but am still working on the C Minor Blues that follows. I started playing along with the solos on Nelson's CD to give me ideas.
My M55 will be appearing at the Iowa City Jazz Festival this year. I won't. I'll be backstage all nervy and excited to be among the professionals. At times like that I have the appearance of a one year old yellow labrador retriever banging my tail on some-one's bass drum without any regard for how bad my time is or how really annoying I am.
After about three minutes of tough negotiating I agreed to loan my M55 to Steve Nelson.
We also have a bunch of lessons that will be coming online.
Here's an itunes podcast series that seems really great.

You can subscribe to this in Itunes. I listened to one so far, and his style is great and he's very knowledgeable.
I'd like to begin a discussion about feet. Your feet and how you deal with them when you're playing. Vibes players may be at risk for foot and back problems because we are often standing on one foot with the other on the pedal. The weight distribution is very unbalanced. Has anyone had problems with either foot, leg, hip or back pain? What did you do about it? What helped? What didn't? What kind of shoes do you wear while playing? Do your feet stink?
More Symbiosis

Since there was talk about vibe mics, I thought I'd post something official and see if we could get some talk and photos.
I use and sell the AMT Vibe Mics and I love them. 3 mics, 2 above and 1 below. It's a great set up and the sound is fantastic.
