Four for Joel

You know the drill. This is the tune Four.

You write in the chords, study my voicings.

Are they rootless?
What parts of the chords are there.

Then play it.

The second chorus is a simple solo outling the harmony.

"I'll Remember April"

"I'll Remember April" - a little shedding in the basement studio after a full day of teaching online. The past two days of teaching have been great. Everyone called in at the designated time and we were off and running. Especially amazing since they were calling from all over the world (Hong Kong, Columbia, Portugal, Paris,...) Wonderful seeing all of the students and seeing how they are doing with everything that's been happening. We covered a lot of material and I think the rest of the semester will be very productive.

Practicing Some Sight Reading - Duets With Annie

Annie is my girlfriend. We live together. she is a very good classical flute player. We sight read together a lot...... and she laughs at me sometimes. My sight reading is not that good.

This post is during the time of the Corona Virus, maybe by the end of this, I'll be a much better sight reader. We will see.

So, I've attached the duet part. Practice it and play along with annie! You can get a chance to be in my shoes!

"Tea For Two"

“Tea For Two” - an impromptu run through tonight of this classic that I haven’t played for years. Helps maybe a little bit playing music for a brief respite of thinking what’s going on in the world right now. Thoughts and hope for everyone out there. It is affecting us all. :(

Quick Bluesette line

Stuck and home and starting writing lines over Bluesette. Heres the first A. If this interests folks I'll add more and maybe explain some of the thinking behind the lines. PDF attached. I played it mostly right.
Sorry for the clanky vibes sound, no resonators because everyone in my buiding is cooped up at home.

"Four" - Left Hand Only

“Four” - working on the left hand today. This is a work in progress. Trying to keep busy and productive. If I can be of any help with any vibraphone related questions feel free to ask. I have more time on my hands. :) As with most of all the schools, I'll be teaching online starting next week for Berklee. It's going to be interesting.

Blues Train - Everybody Please read.

Here's the plan:

Today is March 15th: Deadline is March 25th.

Play this track. Wear headphones when you record. Don't record the track.

Count off with the 2 bar intro. But count like this. 2,3,4,1,2. Make sure your counting is on. Then play 2 choruses of a blues solo audio or video.

Then send it to me. After March 25 I'll put it together with my backing tracks and make a video out of it.

If you are in, please put your name in the comments.

When you send me the file title it like this.
