Practicing with lines on Giant Steps.
A Song for Solace - got in a little early today at Berklee and had some practice time. This song was improvised.
I'll put all the parts here. I am going to redo all this and do it as a video. But I wanted to pass it on asap. I did this in less than 30 minutes. I just did it with a student and thought it's pretty cool so I'll pass it on.
You will see part one. All the rest of the parts are below.
Salina,
Fill in the chords, check out the accidentals. Tell me about what's going on here. (Patrick and help if you want)
And Play it well at our next lesson!
This was written in the 1970s, maybe late 1960s. Victor Brazil was a young sax player who was creating an impressive career. He died early....not sure how.
I've always loved this tune. I think it's one of his best.
I'm working with Tony on Friedman's dampening etude book- here's #10!
My student Pablo was asking about writing a piece with one not as the melody.
So I recommended he write down a bunch of chords with B (his note for the melody, trying to use chords with B as an upper partial as well as a third or fifth.
I figured I'd quickly try and bang out my own version. So here it is. gave myself a couple tries and about 10 minutes.
