Live Thursday Night - Gerald Veasley and the Electric Mingus Project

Time
This Thursday, I'm doing a concert with Gerald Veasley and the Electric Mingus Project.

I think we're going to stream the concert live. We're checking out a couple things with internet from the club. If it all works out then we'll be live. I'll be using my vibes with the k&k system on them as well as my MalletKat.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Hi Gang,

Since we all seem to know the birthdays of our esteemed pros (both living and deceased) and we take a moment to recognize them, we, at the same time, do not have in our profiles the birthdates of our ever growing membership. Thought I would kick that off today with this announcement:

I am 75 years of age as of yesterday, Feb 11, and am proud to be able to announce that and very happy that I am physically here to experience it.

Good Vibes radio February

Time

Hi Everyone,
Good Vibes airs Sunday night Feb 6, 8-10pm eastern time. Yes, I know it is Super Bowl night! If you're watching the Super Bowl, the rebroadcast is Wednesday afternoon at 4-6. OR -- watch the Super Bowl with a Good Vibes radio soundtrack!
Randy Sutin has the first cut with "Lift Every Voice," in honor of black history month.
Then we travel to some warm places to get away from the snow-bound northeast: Tahiti, Barbados,
Phoenix, St. Thomas. And if you can't get away, walk on the sunny side of the street.
Hope you can listen in.

New Year's Resolution!

Hi everybody,

So I know it's a bit late, but the new TOTM (Days of Wine and Roses) has really inspired me to build up a wider repertoire of tunes, so I've come up with a new year's resolution.

From today, I'm going to try and learn a new tune every two weeks (by ear), and at the end of the two weeks post a recording on here, to give a sense of finality to the exercise.

Workshop Sassenheim

I would like to ask the participants to prepare the following two tunes, which I want to concentrate on in depth. In terms of voicings, please prepare "Darn That Dream" in G major.
For lines and linear improvisation, please prepare "Giant Steps".

Thanks. Looking forward to seeing you all on the 18th in Sassenheim!

Good Vibes radio update

Time

Hi All,
Here's an update on the Good Vibes all request show by YOU, the members of vibesworkshop for the evening of January 2 and the afternoon of the 5th. There was more music than time allowed. The music I had to exclude is in no way a reflection upon the music itself or the musicians, but on radio concerns like time, tempo, style. I will try to play what does not appear here on subsequent shows. Making the cuts was difficult, to say the least, but I was guided by including at least one by everyone who requested.
As always, I love your feedback.

Good Vibes Holiday radio show

Time

Hi Everyone,
Just a reminder that Good Vibes rebroadcasts this Wednesday December 8, 4-6pm eastern US time. I am honored that it will also air on Christmas Day at 2:00. Special Xmas Day treat at the very end: Dana Sudborough playing "Carol of the Bells" with his septet (Dana, Dana, Dana, Dana, etc.) Thanks for your permission, Dana!

This is the website blurb:

This is what Plato said

In one of my received emails, I noticed these words that really hit home, for me and I know will touch all of your feelings. I think that it would be nice for Tony miceli to set up a program for all of us to submit an original melody line using the words of this article.

Upon receipt of all sent in materials, there should be a vote made to see who composed the most accepted version. he best part about it all is: (THERE WILL NOT BE A PRIZE) TO CHEAPEN SUCH POWERFUL WORDS). HERE IS THE ARTICLE that "PLATO" wrote!
