Good news from thevibe.net!

Hi all,

This morning I got an unexpected and great message in my mailbox: Gerry Grosz from our sister site thevibe.net:

"Hi, Marie-Noëlle!

It's fixed! Both Bruce and John are now unblocked and have been notified. I can't believe it took me this long to figure out the problem, but I did get it.

Thank you for your keeping me notified and on my toes. :)

In other news, I broke my arm & had surgery just last week, so I'm a little out of the game right now, but feeling so good that I was finally able to fix this longstanding problem.

For those of us in Europe

Hi all!

A few days ago I received the Vic Firth Gary Burton mallets - 2 pairs for a total of Euro 65,- Including shipping + import sales/purchases tax + handling by the Austrian mail services. Here in Austria, if the price of an item is less then Euro 150,- there is no duty!

Thats a bargain since a single pair costs about Euro 55,- or more(check out thomann and all the others).

So my recommendation is to order by one of the big shops. I ordered at Steveweissmusic which I can recommend, but there are others.

The only con is that it takes some 4 weeks to get the stuff delivered.

Explorer 6 Problems?

OK, are you guys having IE6 problems? what exactly is going on.

IE6 is a terrible browser to start with. It's funny when you design something and it works with all browsers but IE6. Our first advice is to use Firefox.

Next, if you guys have a second, can you post exactly what's happening. I have to go download IE6 and test it as well. We think it's the shout box.

Yo All you Boston People

A friend of my Michael Varner is coming to Boston. He wants to meet up with the following. (He teaches down in Texas I think at University of Arlington.)

First, Jazz vibraphone, its teaching and performance skills.
Second, world music, specifically examining performance ensembles and ethnomusicology classes.

Of course I recommended Ed, and then said to check out if Victor has a Latin Ensemble at the school.

Mallets .. a forethought

OK, this post was prompted by Ed's great version of Black Orpheus, and his thoughts about mallets...

This video was done a while ago, and I don't think I ever posted it on VW. Reason was, that I wasn't that crazy about the playing. It started out as just a personal comparison, to see how much I could feel the difference between mallets if I ran some video. A friend wanted to see it, so I edited a little movie and put it up on YouTube. But I was kind of farting around - wish the time and feel were a little better. Whatever, the subject is actually mallets.
