I'm about ready to pull the trigger on buying an Omega Vibe. I've seen alot of different videos, recommendations and comments, and of course I've had the chance to play on it at a few PASICs over the past few years. The fact that they have a new bar formula is pretty attractive too.

The only thing that I'm hesitating on is the bar color. I know basic black is pretty nice, and I'm aware of the other colors being available. I even contacted Malletech and they were great in sending me a PDF of the other colors available for the bars. I keep thinking about how the color black (actually the color "black" is really an absence of color, right?) is so different than the colors we're used to seeing (silver and gold) on vibes bars. For me it's just an adjustment for me mentally that I'd have to get used to.

I guess my question is that, does anyone have any feedback on the Omega in the other colors such as gold, "medical grey", "berry", "blue", "violet", or "desert sand", or any of the colors? I've heard from Malletech that the lighter colors such as gold don't look good with the alloy.

Thanks for your input,
-Roger

I like the look of black bars, but I wonder if they're difficult to see when playing on a dark stage or in a pit.

The black bars and frame are simply beautiful - great looking instrument! I recently did a show where the stage was frequently blacked out while we were playing and I had no trouble playing on the black bars with just the light form my music stand. Although thinking about it, I'm guessing some some glow in the dark paracord would look really cool and help navigating the bars!

well silver bars are just going to stand out the most. but the black bars are beautiful with the instrument. I use orange cord. if the stage is dark, the cord makes all fine. I can see the bars easily. but i also have red bars and actually they are as good if not better than the silver bars.

i had that snow blind effect before from playing silver bars on a very very lit stage.

i would get a nice color. IMHO. Black is fine! but I like red :-). Warren wants or has purple. It's worth it on the gigs just for the show value. and that matters. I wish i dressed better, but at least i have red bars! :-)

The red (actually more of a burgundy, not fire engine-like) bars are a nice contrast to the black frame without being distracting. It's a good match both aesthetically and from a visual/playability standpoint, easy to find your way around the keyboard. After the standard black it's the most common color on the instruments coming out of the shop these days.
