This beautiful standard sounds pretty good on vibes. Unlike many standards, the verse hasn't been abandoned and is still played as part of the arrangement. The melody lends itself well to octaves in the right hand.
Hey Vibeworkshop,
Im currently getting ready for my recital and one of the pieces that I am playing on my recital is a reduction, I'm currently working on, of the ever popular Strange Meadow Lark by Dave Brubeck. As I study the piece and…
This is from a website I found. I didn't see it at first, but barryk said, 'Tony, you didn't scroll to the bottom of the page or you would have commented.' I missed this picture big time!! Woah, this is out!
Check out these little snippets of comping based on a Brazilian feel. I basically took the guitar and bass parts and put them together. I added seconds to the bass line to add a percussive sound to the rhythm. The guitar more so than the…
Here's an excerpt from a clinic where I talked about voicings and harmony. All the great players have a solid grasp of voicings and harmony. I remember Gary telling me in lessons way back that every voicing should have something…

I'll explain some theory: which chords can be substitute with them, how to harmonize a scale, and how to play melody and comping using this particular…
Chip Ward on guitar, Mike Doorish on clarinet and my malletech vibes. Tuesday afternoon jam session at my house. All the Things You Are sounds like elevator music.

I had some guests join (kind of a Snarky Puppy type concert), also some great players in…
Lesson from Tony M. Challenge was to play a solo. I have great difficulty playing anything but a very tuneful solo without getting lost. This is 1. melody line, 2. solo, 3. chord-tones with melody line.
