Hi all,
I will be doing a clinic at New Jersey City University on Sunday, April 22nd. Exact times are TBD, but the start will likely be 11am.
If you are a high school or college aged vibist that would like to perform, please contact me at behn@behngillecejazz.com and I can provide more details.
This would be a great opportunity to be heard by percussionists and vibe enthusiasts in the NYC area! Hope to hear from some folks!

Just a quick note. Our French workshop is pretty amazing. It's in the mountains and is so beautiful. The food is great. Organic and local. It's paradise their actually.
Hope to see some of you guys there!

Piper’s Work Room (first post)
Tony asked me to present my story along with a series relating to the vibraphone's various mechanical functions from both a player and a builder's perspective. The objective is to systematically address the entire instrument and share what I learned going through the process of designing, building, marketing and pitching the PIPERvibe to Musser. I’m hoping that you will ask questions, answer questions and present new ideas. Building a great vibraphone is simple - until you actually do it.
This is a piece my son Jeremy wrote for his daughter, Ona. I also hadn't heard him play vibes in decades, even though he's an accomplished percussionist and electronic performer. I was pleasantly surprised by his subtlety and control. I also find the piece touching. Can a father say that without sounding corny? :-)
I made this for a student, but who else want's to play a duet with me?
individual parts are below. Pick which ever you want.
What a great tune Flamenco Sketches is for working on chords and chord melodies. There is no melody so it's all you! I love practicing this tune.
We are trying something different this year in Germany. Instead of the big full blown workshop, we thought to try a two day intense workshop for players who want to quickly gather a lot of information. There will be handouts, and workshop topics to focus on specific areas of vibe playing. Then you take all this info home and practice!
