Good Vibes Radio June '14

Time

Hi All,
This June marks the beginning of the fifth year of Good Vibes. Hard to believe. I'll be playing a set of three Milt Jackson recordings, and continue to explore newer CDs: Red Norvo's Four Classic Albums, Steve Shapiro's Low Standards, Hendrik Meurkens Mundell's Moods with Chuck Redd on drums and Dave Stryker's new Eight Track with Stefon Harris on vibes. I'll be playing some classics and some new compositions, Vigorous Vibes and Organic Vibes. Come listen.

Pascal Schumacher and Jef Neve : Mechelen, Belgium

Yesterday I went to see them play in my hometown.

Jef is Belgiums most famous jazzpianist
And most of you know Pascal

With that saying, allmost everyone in the audience came because it was a concert from Jef Neve. When I entered the venue, I apparently sat next to Leo. Now you got to know Leo. Leo is the man behind Mechelen's Jazzzolder (Jazzattic) A small jazz club. My friends and I laugh about it, saying : "if you want to accomplish anything with Jazz in Mechelen, you'll have to pass Leo.He's Mechelens Jazz godfather."

Vibes/Bass duo gig on SoundCloud - Easy Living - Ed Saindon & Mark Carlsen

Guys, I just put up some clips on SoundCloud. The clips are from a recent gig with bassist Mark Carlsen. We do a lot of playing together at various Asian restaurants which is great. It keeps us playing. We always have fun playing and the hang is great. Family, friends and students usually come out for the night. We play a few sets and then sit down for some very good food. Anyways, here is a clip of Easy Living. Gustavo taped this and the recorder was a little close to the table but I think you can make out what we're playing.

Just Sayin' (You advanced cats).

You are only going to get good at this instrument if you put the time in. You dig?

Consistent hard working time. Without that part nothing else will do it. There is no other way. All great players work hard.

if you put in an hour or two a day and if it's fun to you and you have the desire you can play this instrument.

I've watched countless people do this right here on this site.

I just listened to Gilbrano play one of the advanced lessons here. I remember when he was just getting into the instrument and now he has a lot of control over the instrument.

My new studio stuff and how it sounds

hey,
i was busy during the last weeks to prepare my new music room. thanks to mr.piper i built 5 sound baffles for the walls (thanks mr.piper for that great video!) in addition to my movable studio walls. in the room was a carpet which i took out because there was parquet underneath which i had to clean and make nice again. the room even has a chimney :)

i made a dream come true and bought a stereo set of 2 neumann u87 microphones and a presonus 1818vsl interface.
