Life's Blessing - Ed Saindon and Friends at Berklee College of Music
I had a fellow few vibes enthusiasts over recently, during which I noticed how geeky we all are. I thought that I would post some photographs that were taken that day. Please don't blast me for posting a photograph of myself. I thought it brought out my best features.
I think it's ok for every young musician to rebel against those who came before if they choose. The discussion about lines and then John's post about challenges of the instrument got me thinking.
I'm curious to know what your most challenging aspect of playing the vibes is or has been. I'd like to know from both the "pros" and the "up and coming Pros". This should be very unique to each individual. We all have different views on how we want to sound (that's one unique view) and we are all gifted with unique talents and... well... deficiencies.
I posted this over at www.larrysimprovpage.com and thought that maybe it would be of interest to some of you here, especially the pros.
Everybody is going for a bail out plan, well jazz musicians should also. After all, look at all the gigs we're losing because of those greedy f*(kin b**t(*(s who chiseled away everything they could until there was nothing left. They didn't care about anybody including our jazz gigs!
So I propose only 1 billion to be set aside to compensate us for the following (that's much less then anyone else is asking for):
Hi everyone, I was going wait until the album was available on itunes and amazon until I announced this but I have no clue when thats going to happen BUT the CD and MP3 CAN be purchased through the label website right now!

Not much, until you get lost in YouTube.
Part of my vibes study routine is to see what's posted on YouTube.
Someone post "Wii Music - Legend of Zelda (Vibraphone)"

Hi!
I just bought a vinyl copy of the album "We get requests" by the Oskar Peterson Trio. I know this record since I was a teenager and for me the solo OP plays here is one of the finest jazz solos ever recorded. OP uses rather few notes, has a perfect phrasing and creates an tremendous "dramatic arc" over the solo and takes it to almost "reliefing" climax. And yet another aspect is the bass by Ray Brown and the drums by Ed Thigpen that faciliate and support the solo so well.
We have a podcast up on itunes called Percussion Geeks. It sort of helps the vibe cause, our website cause and more. I would love it if any of you guys could go over and put up a review. Do any of you subscribe to the podcast?
This link will take you directly there. http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=289736…
If any of you have video that would fit this format, i can include it. Even audio. Just as long as it pertains to being a Percussion Geek!
