Hey guys, I just recorded this at home. I was inspired by David's brilliant version that he recorded on the Omega by Malletech. I thought it sounded gorgeous. I'm playing it here in Bb. I like how the melody plays out in that key. I wrote out a lead sheet with some possible harmonic variations that I was experimenting with in this version. The lead sheet can be viewed and downloaded from googledocs. The link is on the YT clip's description. Also, please check out the classic versions from Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett if you haven't already done so. Ed
Hello Vibeworkshoppers. After several years of hard work, I'm very please to announce the release of my second album, "Gotham."
This is the product of the long term development of a group I've been leading here in NYC for the last 3 years with drummer Nate Wood, bassist Matt Clohesy, and saxophonist Donny McCaslin.
The CD is available today on iTunes and CD Baby.
Take a sneak peek at the video trailer for the album:
Make sure to turn up the volume!

The great tenor saxophonist Donny McCaslin sitting in with the Electric trio from a show earlier this year. Donny was in the house and I made him come up and play. So burnin!
Also Ari Hoenig on drums, Sam Minaie on bass and myself on Malletkat.
I like playing this tune because the melody sits at the upper end of the vibes, which gives you lots of room down below to put your accompaniment. The syncopated rhythms provide a nice momentum too, and the familiar chord changes are a lot of fun to improvise on,
Hello everyone, here's a clip of one of my favorite compositions.
For my vibist friends in Italy: I'll be presenting a clinic at the Accademia Del Suono in Milan on May 16th from 3-5.

This is such a beautiful tune with a tremendously long form, which, for ballad lovers, should be of great interest. It's been performed as a fast tempo latin tune by several artists, such as Chick Corea, but I love it as a ballad with a loping even eighth note feel.
Hi folks,
Here is a new video that demonstrates the expressiveness of some of the electric sounds that I've been working on...You will notice that the natural vibe sound still makes up the basic attack, and that it is very responsive to velocity and phrasing techniques such as bar dampening, etc.
I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, so feel free to comment, good or bad!!
Cheers,
Steve
